Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI and Mistral: does your business need to be visible there too?
Besides ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude, there are more and more AI assistants. What are Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI and Mistral, and how do you decide where to spend your time?
You do not need to target Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI or Mistral separately. Most AI assistants use the same kinds of sources: your website, business profiles, reviews and mentions on other sites. If you work on that foundation, you help all models at once. Start with the assistants your customers use most and test the others yourself from time to time.
Which AI assistants are there besides the big four?
ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude are the best known. But there are more. A short overview:
- Grok is the AI assistant from xAI. It is built into the social network X and can use posts on X and the open web as sources.
- DeepSeek is a Chinese language model that became known as a powerful, low-cost model. You can use it through an app and a website. The model is also openly available, so other companies build it into their own products.
- Meta AI sits inside WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook and Messenger. Many people come across it without looking for it, simply in an app they already use.
- Mistral is a French AI company. Its assistant is called Le Chat. Mistral is popular with European organisations that value European software.
There is also Microsoft Copilot, which searches through Bing. We have a separate article on it: Microsoft Copilot and your business.
Do these assistants work differently?
Broadly speaking, no. Each of these assistants runs on a large language model (LLM). That model has knowledge from training and can often search the web live as well. The differences lie mainly in:
- which search source they use. Grok, for example, can draw heavily on posts on X. Other assistants rely on a search engine or their own index.
- how current they are. Not every assistant searches live for every question. In that case, what the model read during training is what counts.
- who they are meant for. Meta AI sits in chat apps and often gets short, personal questions. Mistral is widely used in business settings.
You can read exactly how a language model works in what is an LLM.
How do you set your priorities?
Your time is limited. So ask yourself three questions:
- Which assistant do my customers use? Ask customers during an intake or in a short survey. Also check in Google Analytics which AI sites send visitors to your website.
- Where is my industry talked about? A brand that is discussed a lot on X gets more out of paying attention to Grok. A local service provider gets more out of a good business profile and reviews.
- Who is my target audience? Business customers more often use ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot or Mistral at work. Consumers are more likely to come across Meta AI in WhatsApp or Instagram.
For most businesses the order then becomes: first ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude, then Copilot, and only then the rest. That is not a fixed rule. Look at what suits your customers.
One foundation for all models
The good news: you do not need to do something different for each model. All assistants benefit from the same foundation:
- A clear website. Pages that explain what you do, for whom and where. With headings that answer questions.
- Access for AI crawlers. Do not block AI companies' bots without a good reason. See allowing AI crawlers in robots.txt.
- Consistent details. The same name, address and description on your website, in business directories and on review sites.
- Mentions on other sites. Local press, industry directories and comparison sites are sources that many models use.
- Reviews. Recent, genuine reviews show that customers are happy.

How to test the smaller assistants yourself
HelloGeoLabs measures ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude. We do not track Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI or Mistral. Still want to know what they say about you? Run a simple test:
- Pick three to five questions your customers really ask. For example "which museum in Utrecht is fun with children?" or "where can I buy sustainable garden furniture online?".
- Ask those questions to each assistant, ideally without logging in.
- Note whether you are mentioned, in which position, which competitors appear and which sources are shown.
- Repeat this every quarter. Smaller assistants change quickly, so a regular check helps.
Do you see big differences compared with the big four? Then look at which sources that assistant uses and whether you are visible there.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a separate strategy for every AI assistant?
No. The foundation is the same for all models. Only when there is a clear channel of its own, such as X for Grok, can extra attention make sense.
Is DeepSeek safe to use for my business?
That is a different question from visibility. For your AI visibility, what matters is what the model says about you when customers use it. Whether you use it internally yourself depends on your own privacy policy.
Will more AI assistants appear?
Probably. That is why a strong foundation is smarter than separate tricks per model.
