7 things you can do on your website today to get mentioned by AI more often

A practical checklist: from structured data and an FAQ page to opening your site to AI crawlers. Most points take an afternoon.

Your website is not the only source AI assistants use, but it is the only one you fully control. With these seven points you make it as easy as possible for an AI model to understand what you do, where and for whom.

1. Say what you do and where in one sentence

Put a sentence like this at the top of your homepage: "Plumbing company in The Hague and Rijswijk, specialised in leaks and boilers, available 24/7." Not a slogan, but facts. AI models often reuse sentences like that almost word for word.

2. Create a page per service and per area

A separate page for "boiler repair" and one for "leak repair" gives a model far more to go on than one page with a list. Mention the places you serve on every page as well.

3. Add structured data (LocalBusiness)

With schema.org code (JSON-LD) you tell search engines and AI your business name, address, phone number, opening hours, service area and reviews in a fixed format. Many website builders and WordPress plugins can add this for you. Check it afterwards with Google's Rich Results Test.

4. Add an FAQ page

People ask AI assistants questions, so help the model with answers. Write down the questions customers really ask you ("What does a new boiler cost?", "Do you come out at weekends?") and answer them briefly and concretely. Add FAQPage data here too.

5. Allow AI crawlers in your robots.txt

Some websites block AI crawlers, sometimes without the owner knowing. Check your robots.txt (yoursite.com/robots.txt) to see whether bots such as GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot, ClaudeBot or Google-Extended are blocked with "Disallow: /". If you want to be mentioned, let them in. Note: a firewall or security plugin can also stop bots.

6. Add an llms.txt

An llms.txt is a simple text file in the root of your website with a short summary of your business and links to your most important pages. It is a young standard and not every model uses it yet, but it takes little effort and makes your information even easier to find.

7. Keep your details the same everywhere

Business name, address, phone number and services should be identical on your website, your Google Business Profile, review sites and directories. Conflicting information makes a model uncertain, and an uncertain model prefers to mention someone else.

How do you know it works?

After changes like these, it takes a few weeks before AI assistants pick up the new information. So measure before and after. The free AI check automatically checks your website for most of these points. With a subscription you get an action plan with ready-made texts and code, and we show you every week whether you are mentioned more often.
